Balsam Parlour began life in 1854 as a family home, and the house still carries itself that way: creaking staircases, tall windows filled with maple and fir, and a front parlour where the kettle is never far from the boil. Tucked into the quiet village of Riverside-Albert, New Brunswick, it is an easy place to slow down, just a short drive from the tides of the Bay of Fundy, the trails of Fundy National Park and the salt marshes along the Shepody River. Come for the history, stay for the breakfasts, and keep one evening free for the tables in our casino.

Breakfast, Afternoon Tea & More
Mornings begin with a hot breakfast made from scratch, using herbs and vegetables from our kitchen garden and produce from farms across Albert County. Later in the day the Tea Parlour takes over, with tiered stands of scones, finger sandwiches and seasonal sweets served on vintage china. Themed teas mark the calendar all year long, from winter holidays to midsummer garden parties. Follow us on Facebook to catch the next tea date. Private teas can be arranged for groups of eight or more, and we cater personal and business gatherings of up to 30 guests.

Balsam Parlour sits within easy reach of the landmarks that make southeastern New Brunswick famous:
Hopewell Rocks (about 13 minutes): stroll the sea floor at low tide, then paddle between the flowerpot rocks once the water returns.
Fundy National Park (about 22 minutes): more than 120 km of trails, waterfalls, lakeside picnic spots and wonderfully dark night skies.
Cape Enrage (about 22 minutes): a clifftop lighthouse, ziplining and rappelling, and fossil hunting on the beach below.
Rather explore on foot? The Shepody Trail and Crooked Creek Trail wind through marshland, woodland and wildflower meadows close to the inn.
